Gears of War: Redux Update 1.1 Available for Download

Modder ‘PunishedWolf’ has officially released Update 1.1 for Gears of War: Redux, delivering a substantial batch of new weapons, destruction physics, and visual tech to the PC community overhaul.

Designed specifically for the original PC release of Gears of War (not the Ultimate Edition), Redux addresses long-standing technical gaps while porting fan-favorite features and content from across the franchise.

What’s New in Update 1.1

  1. Expanded Arsenal & Combat: Introduces three new weapons—the Sawed-off Shotgun, Sawed-off Bayonet, and Breechshot—alongside fresh execution animations and an updated launcher.
  2. Campaign & Horde Mutators: Mix up gameplay with new modifiers, including spawning Gears of War 2 enemy types directly into the original campaign.
  3. Dynamic Physics & Destruction: Adds fractured static meshes that shatter under gunfire, reactive fluid surfaces, and destructible props brought over from GOW2 (such as desks, cabinets, vehicles, and gas pumps).
  4. RTX Remix Support: NVIDIA RTX Remix can now be toggled directly from the game launcher, laying the groundwork for path tracing (though native PBR materials are not yet included).

Core Overhaul Features

  1. Complete Co-op & Split-Screen: Full local split-screen support for the entire campaign and all multiplayer modes on a single PC.
  2. Multiplayer Modes & Custom Maps: Includes Horde, Horde+, King of the Hill, Guardian, and Team Deathmatch, running on custom community maps and converted Gears of War 2 arenas.
  3. Modern PC Tech: Native DirectX 10/11 support, ultrawide (21:9 and 32:9) display compatibility with corrected FOV, full keyboard remapping with split cover/evade inputs, text chat, and customizable bot difficulty.
