The 3DS is region locked, the region info can be found on the system version in the system settings.
| Code | Letter | Region |
|---|---|---|
| EUR | E | Europe |
| USA | U | United States / Canada (North America) |
| JPN | J | Japan |
| KOR | K | South Korea |
| TWN | T | Taiwan / Hong Kong |
| CHN | C | Mainland China (iQue) |
- TWN and CHN regions are not supported on the New 3DS models, as they were not released in those countries.
- All regions are updated to version 11.17, expect for TWN, CHN, and KOR regions which are at version 11.16. Version 11.17 patches a common soft-modding method for previous versions of the 3DS System Software known as Bannerbomb3 by leveraging a buffer overflow in the banner title strings for DSiWare exports. The MSET applet has been updated to display the full string without corrupting the stack, so this exploit is no longer possible.
