HD Loader Game Installer (HDLGameInstaller) allows you to install PS2 games onto a HDD from disc or from an ISO sent from your PC. These games can be played using OPL or directly using HDDOSD.

App Installation

  1. Download the latest release from GitHub and extract the contents to a folder on your PC.
  2. Copy the PS2 folder to a USB storage device. Rename this folder HDLGameInstaller.
  3. Safely eject your USB storage device and insert it into your PS2.
    • Optionally copy the HDLGameInstaller folder to your hard drive under hdd0:/+OPL/APPS/. It can be run from USB or HDD.
  4. Run HDLGameInstaller.elf. Upon first launch, it will copy your network settings into the program, but you can change it or even enable DHCP if needed under the Options menu.

Installing Games from Disc

  1. Insert the disc and press Start.
  2. When prompted, add a title and two OSD titles. These determine the title and subtitles for your game when you browse to play it. You can enter the game's name in each field or a shorthand for the game name (e.g. "GTA3"), or a space for the two OSD title entries.
  3. Skip the rest of the options and select Next and then OK to proceed.
  4. You can choose a different icon source if you'd like, then select OK and then OK to proceed. The game will install. Select OK to dismiss the success message.

Installing Games from PC

If you have an ISO file on your PC, you can use this method to install it onto your PS2. It is recommended to connect both your PS2 and PC to your router using an ethernet cable for speed and stability during the installation process.

  1. Open the "PC" folder that you had extracted onto your PC.
  2. Run "HDLGManClient.exe". Enter the IP address shown on your PS2 inside of the HDLGameInstaller app and click the Connect button. It should populate your list of installed games and the app on the console should update its screen and alternate between network settings showing a warning to not power off the console.
    • If you cannot connect to the PS2, ensure that TCP port 45061 and 45062 are allowed in your PC firewall and on your network.
  3. Select "Install new game..." and then "Add Game".
  4. Choose "Disc Image" and click the "Browse..." button and choose your desired game ISO.
  5. Add a title and two OSD titles. These determine the title and subtitles for your game when you browse to play it. You can enter the game's name in each field or a shorthand for the game name (e.g. "GTA3"), or a space for the two OSD title entries.
  6. Skip the rest of the options and select Ok and then OK again to proceed. The game will be queued in a list for transfer. You can continue to add games to the queue. Once done, click Start and "Yes" to begin the installation process.
