Silent Hill fans have a major reason to celebrate: a dedicated fan known as 'Lorean The Gamer' is developing a native PC version of Konami’s infamous Silent Hills playable teaser, P.T., and has shared a massive 30-minute gameplay showcase of the project.
Originally launched as a free PS4 demo in August 2014, Hideo Kojima's P.T. terrified players by trapping them in a claustrophobic, endlessly looping hallway filled with changing details and complex puzzles. Following the cancellation of the full Silent Hills game and Kojima's departure in 2015, Konami completely scrubbed the demo from the PlayStation Store. Since then, the PC community has relied on various fan remakes—including versions built in Unreal Engine 4, Unreal Engine 5, and even a VR port for Half-Life: Alyx.
However, this new native PC port stands out by aiming for total authenticity. Currently sitting at about 97% complete, the project retains the demo's original Lua scripts, traps, cutscenes, and animation rigs. The developer has painstakingly rebuilt the original Fox Engine graphics from the ground up, adding support for modern visual features like deferred lighting, local reflections, motion blur, and the ending's iconic volumetric fog. The entire sound system has also been rebuilt to support the original Wwise sound banks, 3D spatial audio, and offline speech recognition for the game's microphone puzzles.
This native port will also deliver significant technical enhancements over the original PS4 release. PC players can expect an uncapped framerate that shatters the original 30 FPS limit, support for ultra-wide resolutions, and full compatibility with mouse and keyboard, DualSense, and Xbox controllers. To ensure smooth performance, the project will even support modern upscaling technologies like AMD FSR 3.1 and NVIDIA DLSS.
While there is currently no official release date for this unofficial P.T. PC port, the extensive gameplay footage proves it is incredibly close to the finish line.
