NVIDIA’s DLSS 5 introduces significant neural rendering enhancements to PC gaming. While newer titles natively support modern upscaling pipelines, community modding tools now make it possible to inject DLSS 5 into DirectX 12 games as well as older DX9, DX11, and Vulkan titles.
DirectX 12 Games (Native DLSS Support)
For DX12 titles that already support DLSS, setup requires minimal configuration:
- Download the DLSS 5 Swapper utility.
- Run the tool, select your game directory, and click Install DLSS 5. The launcher automatically creates backups, replaces the necessary DLSS files, and sets up ReShade.
- Launch your game, hit the Home key to bring up the ReShade overlay, navigate to the Add-ons tab, and verify that DLSS 5 Neural Rendering is active.
DX9, DX11, and Vulkan Games (Non-DLSS Titles)
Older APIs cannot trigger DLSS calls on their own, requiring an intermediary layer to bridge the gap:
- Download DLSS 5 Feeder.
- This tool intercepts frame data available through ReShade—such as depth buffers and motion vector estimates—to construct the necessary pipeline calls.
- DLSS 5 processes the rendered frame and injects the neural upscale back into the game engine. Follow the bundled setup guide to configure the injector for your specific title.
Note: Current implementations rely on leaked early builds, meaning visual quality and stability will vary compared to upcoming official game integrations.
