YouTube channel ‘Unreal Gaming’ recently released two impressive videos demonstrating Demon’s Souls Remake and Astro Bot running on PC via the latest version of the KyTyPS5 emulator. Because both titles are currently strictly PlayStation 5 exclusives, seeing them boot on a PC is a major milestone.
The footage was captured on a high-end rig equipped with an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080. Thanks to a performance overlay included in the video, we can see that both the CPU and GPU are significantly underutilized. This confirms that the current sluggish performance is due to emulator optimization rather than hardware bottlenecks, suggesting that a smooth 60 FPS could be well within reach as the software matures.
When it comes to framerates, Demon’s Souls Remake currently hovers between 8 and 18 FPS, though earlier tests of specific areas have managed to hit 30 FPS. Astro Bot fares much better, maintaining over 30 FPS and even touching 60 FPS in less demanding environments. While it may not be fully playable just yet, seeing a PS5 game perform this well on an emulator is highly encouraging.
Perhaps the biggest surprise is the emulator's stability. The Demon’s Souls Remake footage showcases 22 minutes of uninterrupted gameplay without a single crash. While the framerate is still a work in progress, the graphical accuracy is astounding for an emulator still in its relative infancy. In previous console generations, achieving this level of visual fidelity took years.
If you want to test the waters yourself, you can download the latest version of the KyTyPS5 emulator to try it on your own rig.
