If you are running a flash cart capable of playing Sega Master System ROMs, one connection needs to be added to provide full support for these games. This is a rather straightforward mod, but does require some precision in connecting to a delicate pin on the main ASIC. The original details on this mod are from RyuX.

Installation

  1. Disassemble the Nomad to gain access to the primary board.
  2. Optionally, use kapton tape to cover nearby pins to prevent accidentally soldering them, as they are small and delicate.
  3. Use flux and leaded solder to connect some thin high gauge (30AWG or even 32AWG) wire to pin 45 of the 315-5700 chip. The pins have dots indicating groups of five to help locate it.
  4. The other end of the wire will go to pin B30 of the cartridge connector. This pin is the harder-to-reach pin row. Be sure to lay out the wire as you want it to sit when the system is closed up, and snip it close to the pin.
  5. Test it out before fully reassembling the console so you can make any corrections as needed.
