Wuxi is a free, open source DIY kit designed by TZMWX that allows the Rhea/Phoebe and Fenrir ODEs to coexist alongside an original CD-ROM drive in the same console.
Where to Purchase
While users are free to fabricate their own Wuxi kit, including all necessary 3D-printed components, the following sellers offer pre-made kits, ready to purchase.
Installation Tutorial
Presently, users seeking an installation tutorial must combine the original Chinese-language video with an OCR machine-translated image album. Note that the image album contains additional details not present in the video, such as cable length suggestions.
Troubleshooting
When installing Wuxi, there are two extremely important considerations, each which is likely to be a culprit for problems. It's important to note that an installation can appear successful after some quick testing, but it's only after prolonged use that one experiences crashes. The best way to test your installation is to play an optical audio CD, as well as an audio CD via ODE, in the Saturn's multiplayer on repeat for at least four hours. If at no point playback halts, or the SD card becomes unreadable, then your installation is generally considered safe.
- There are resistors 1 to 6 on the SD card adapter for testing purposes and do not require installation.
- The FFCs going from CD-ROM drive to Wuxi, or Wuxi to console's main board are too long. See recommended lengths in the OCR machine-translated image album. Note that it's recommended to use the shortest possible cables for these two connections. Users of most 21-pin consoles can usually safely use these 2" FFCs, while users of most 20-pin consoles can usually safely use these 4" FFCs.
