Start with evidence and the correct model
Identify LCD or OLED hardware before ordering parts or following a disassembly guide. Photograph the symptom and record when it occurs, whether it began after a drop or modification, and what still works. A controller problem inside one game should be checked with the system input test before opening the case. A charging problem should first be checked with a known suitable power source and a direct connection. Keep any warranty or support case details available while deciding whether a hardware intervention is necessary.
Read the whole procedure before opening
iFixit provides separate repair documentation for LCD and OLED units. Choose the specific component procedure and read through its prerequisites, warnings and reassembly instructions before starting. Prepare the correct drivers, nonconductive tools, lighting and a screw organizer. Remove the microSD card before separating the enclosure, and follow the battery and power-disconnection instructions for the model. A part list is not a substitute for the sequence: clips, shields, ribbon connectors and screw lengths can matter even when the outside of two devices looks similar.
Protect connectors and the battery
Disconnect power as instructed and treat a lithium battery with appropriate care. A swollen or damaged pack is a reason to stop ordinary experimentation and seek suitable repair handling. Do not pry blindly under a glued battery or use a metal tool where it can short a board. Photograph connector orientation before separating it and identify the latch mechanism rather than pulling with increasing force. If a cable will not move with the expected action, revisit the guide; some connector damage costs more to repair than the original faulty part.
Replace only what the diagnosis supports
Stick drift, a failed fan, damaged display and broken charging connector are different repair jobs with different evidence. Changing several parts together may hide the actual cause and introduce new faults. Preserve the removed part and record its markings so the repair can be traced later. Board-level work, soldered connectors and unusual electrical faults require skills beyond replacing a modular component. Without measurements and the correct circuit documentation, heating a board or bridging a suspected fuse is not a diagnosis and can destroy useful evidence.
Verify before closing the case completely
Follow the documented safe test arrangement, then check charging, display, touch, audio and every control involved in the repair. Verify fan behavior and inspect for trapped cables before final reassembly. Repeat suspend and resume and run a familiar game with the same settings used in the original baseline. If a replacement input part requires calibration, follow the part’s actual instructions and retest with system input readings. Keep a repair log with the device model, replacement part, source guide and test results so a later problem can be investigated accurately.
