Bloodborne Unofficial Native PC Port (bbport) Releases, Bringing the Action RPG to Windows and Linux Without Emulation
After years of waiting from fans, an unofficial native PC port for Bloodborne—one of the most heavily requested PlayStation 4 titles—has officially been released. Dubbed bbport, this newly launched project allows players to experience the classic action RPG on Windows and Linux without relying on heavy CPU emulation like the shadPS4 emulator.
How bbport Works
Unlike traditional emulators that handle broad system emulation on the fly, bbport
is built specifically for Bloodborne version 1.09. Before the game boots up, its eboot is
converted into a native x86-64 image. A lightweight runtime handles the specific PS4 features
required by the game, reducing unnecessary overhead during runtime.
Key PC Features and Enhancements
The native port introduces a robust suite of upgrades tailored for PC users:
-
Unlocked Frame Rates: Play with dedicated options for 30, 60, and 90 FPS modes.
-
Upscaling Support: Includes built-in support for AMD FSR (FSR 3.1, FSR 4, and FSR 4.1.1) utilizing the game's motion vectors and jitter.
-
Dual-Threaded GPU Work: Splits decode and draw execution across separate threads to bypass key bottlenecks found in the original game code.
-
Customization & Modding: Features an in-game menu for adjusting resolution, upscaling, sharpness, and graphics effects, alongside support for mods, a free camera mode, a Windows launcher, and a Steam Deck AppImage.
The Catch: Lack of Mouse Support
While the technical achievement is impressive, the port currently lacks mouse support—a notable drawback for a third-person action game on PC in 2026.
