Star Wars: Galactic Racer Review – High-Speed Star Wars Racing Done Right

Star Wars: Galactic Racer delivers blistering speed, satisfying vehicle handling and a surprisingly deep campaign. Our review explains whether it’s worth buying.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer Review – High-Speed Star Wars Racing Done Right

There are few things in Star Wars quite as exciting as watching ridiculously powerful machines scream across an alien landscape at speeds that seem completely unreasonable.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer understands that.

Rather than simply resurrecting podracing and calling it a day, Galactic Racer builds a complete arcade racing experience around the speed, danger, and mechanical chaos of the Star Wars universe.

The result is one of the most pleasant surprises of the year.

This Isn't Just Podracing

Anyone expecting Galactic Racer to essentially be a modern version of Star Wars Episode I: Racer may be surprised by how much more is going on.

The game primarily revolves around landspeeders, speeder bikes, and skim speeders, with podracers also appearing throughout the experience.

More importantly, they don't simply look different. They behave differently.

Landspeeders are dependable all-rounders, while speeder bikes trade survivability for ridiculous speed. Skim speeders offer their own handling characteristics and can aggressively bank through tight spaces.

Finding the vehicle that clicks with you becomes part of the fun.

Speed Is Galactic Racer's Greatest Achievement

A racing game can have dozens of tracks and hundreds of unlocks, but none of that matters if driving isn't fun.

This is where Galactic Racer shines.

Everything works together to create an outstanding sensation of speed. Environments fly past you, engines scream, music reacts to what's happening, and a tiny mistake can turn a perfect run into a wreck in seconds.

Once you adjust to the pace, drifting around a corner, hitting a risky shortcut, and blasting past another racer feels fantastic.

Boost Until You Explode

Galactic Racer makes boosting more interesting than simply holding a button whenever a meter is full.

Alongside the conventional afterburner is Ramjet, which offers tremendous speed at a cost: push your machine too hard and you'll blow it up.

That creates a great risk-versus-reward decision during close races.

Do you play it safe?

Or do you push the machine to its absolute limit to steal the win?

A Racing Campaign With Roguelite DNA

One of Galactic Racer's biggest surprises is its campaign.

Instead of simply selecting race after race from a championship menu, you're progressing through tournaments with branching paths and run-based mechanics.

Failure matters, but progression means a lost run isn't necessarily wasted.

Upgrades improve characteristics such as handling, durability, cornering, and boost recharge. Active abilities introduce shields, additional speed, and offensive options.

The Star Wars Galaxy Makes a Fantastic Racetrack

Different planets provide dramatically different scenery, hazards, and track designs.

That variety matters because Galactic Racer is moving so quickly that the environment becomes part of the spectacle.

This isn't simply an ordinary racing game with Star Wars vehicles dropped into it.

It looks, sounds, and moves like Star Wars.

Podracing Hasn't Been Forgotten

And yes:

There is podracing.

Galactic Racer knows exactly what longtime Star Wars racing fans want. Arcade events include dedicated podracing, and players who primarily want that experience don't have to pretend otherwise.

Multiplayer Adds More Longevity

Competitive online multiplayer adds another reason to stick around after the campaign.

Unfortunately, there's one omission that's particularly disappointing:

No split-screen multiplayer.

This feels like exactly the kind of racing game that should let two people sit on the couch and destroy each other's speeders.

Online play helps, but split-screen would have made the package substantially better.

GlitchMod Verdict

9/10 — BUY

Star Wars: Galactic Racer is a fast, stylish, and surprisingly deep arcade racer that captures the thrill of Star Wars at full throttle. A few rough edges and the lack of split-screen hold it back from perfection, but excellent handling, satisfying progression, and spectacular presentation make this an easy recommendation for racing and Star Wars fans alike.
