This directory brings practical setup, preservation, hardware care and software development questions together. Choose a guide by the task you need to accomplish, and record the model and software version before changing anything. Supported consumer features, documented development routes and security research have different prerequisites, so each article explains its own scope.
Start and preserve
Games and accessories
Choose a useful starting point
For a newly acquired console, begin with identification and getting started. Check included cables, storage, controllers and account access while the machine is still in its original state. Write down which functions already work. That baseline prevents a later accessory or installation problem from being confused with a pre-existing defect.
For a storage upgrade, identify what is actually stored in each location and where saves reside. Installed software, licenses and user progress are separate concerns. Prepare a restore route for important data and verify a sample game after migration. Capacity printed on packaging is not the same as the free space available after formatting and system reservations.
For a fault, choose the corresponding network, controller, video or recovery guide. Change one variable at a time and repeat the same test. A useful report contains an exact model, version, error message and comparison with known-good equipment. Avoid erasing data as the first experiment for a problem that may originate in an external cable or accessory.
Read support limits carefully
Original Switch compatibility does not imply compatibility with older custom firmware, payloads, internal replacement parts or controller attachment. Switch 2-specific evidence is required for each modification. The research guide describes how to evaluate primary releases without asserting a universal jailbreak.
Hardware and service requirements can change. The source links within each article identify the manufacturer procedure or original project documentation behind a claim. Review those links before a purchase, initialization or firmware change. The dated review records what was checked; it does not promise that an online service or later release will remain identical.
Contributing a precise improvement
When adding a guide, name the model or revision, state the intended outcome and document any data loss or compatibility limits. Link a primary manual, support procedure or maintainer release near the factual claim. For repair instructions, include measured diagnosis and photographs for the actual board revision rather than guessing power requirements or internal pin assignments. For development tools, identify the project version and its supported target. Record a repeatable result so another reader can verify the same behavior.
