Minecraft Meets GTA V Natively on the iPhone 17
What happens when you mix two of the biggest gaming juggernauts of all time, port them to a smartphone, and let an AI do the coding? You get an absurdly impressive technical feat: Minecraft running natively inside Grand Theft Auto V on an iPhone 17, maintaining a smooth 50 to 60 frames per second.
The AI-Powered Modding Magic
Modder and "vibecoder" 0xProbability managed to launch Minecraft directly inside a modified iOS port of GTA V. Utilizing Claude Opus 5.5, the developer handed over the reins to the AI, which reportedly handled everything from writing the code to testing the game. According to the creator, they didn't even touch the phone while Claude successfully navigated Steve and flew an Ender Dragon around the streets of Los Santos.
How GTA V Landed on iOS
While modding Minecraft into GTA V sounds wild, getting Rockstar's open-world masterpiece onto an iPhone is the real engineering marvel. The port was originally created by C22, an EPFL student in Switzerland, who adapted a browser-based version of GTA V to run natively as an iOS application with full multiplayer support.
According to the project's documentation, the port requires iOS 15 (or macOS 14 on Apple Silicon with 8GB of RAM) and runs with surprising efficiency. On an iPhone 17, the game pushes a steady 50–60 FPS while consuming just 1.1GB of RAM.
Pushing Browser and Mobile Limits
Before bringing the setup to the iPhone, 0xProbability experimented with running the browser-based version of GTA V integrated with Minecraft block-building mechanics. The project highlights a massive shift in web and mobile capabilities, moving far beyond the simple .io browser games of the past into heavy 3D application territory.
While skepticism remains regarding the long-term stability and practical limits of running complex mods over top-tier mobile ports, the project offers a fascinating glimpse into the future of AI-assisted software development and hardware optimization.
