This page will walk you through enabling homebrew on 5.05 to 13.52 firmwares with the PS4's web browser.

Internet Settings

Exclamation-circle-fill.svgFor some people, their Internet Provider will block DNS’s, thus not allowing you to use the DNS. If you are one of those people, please use the ALTERNATIVE GUIDE.

Navigate to Settings > Network > Check Connect to the Internet, then Set Up Internet Connection and:

  1. Connection: Wi-Fi or LAN cable
  2. Set Up: Custom
  3. IP Address: Automatic
  4. DHCP Host Name: Do Not Specify
  5. DNS Settings: Manual
  6. Primary DNS: 62.210.38.117 (leave the secondary blank as it is)
    • Explanation: This DNS will redirect you to a jailbreak website and block all Sony servers.
  7. MTU Settings: Automatic
  8. Proxy Server: Do Not Use
  9. Test the internet connection. If you get an IP address, it's working.
    • The internet connection failing does not indicate that it actually cannot connect to the internet, it just means the PS4 cannot communicate with Sony's servers, which is the point of the DNS.

If you later decide to go online, follow the Blocking OFW Updates guide to stop game and firmware updates even if a DNS is not an option for you. There are alternatives in the Alternative Methods of Jailbreaking page.

Karo218.ir (5.05 & 6.72-9.60)

  1. Navigate to Settings > User's Guide/Helpful Info > User Guide (The website loaded should be an exploit host instead of the user guide) and select the Karo site.
    • If you don't want to access this site through the one provided by the DNS, launch the Web Browser application and go to https://karo218.ir manually. It would be a good idea to bookmark the page as well.
  2. Select GoldHEN for your firmware version if you're on 5.05 or 6.72. If you're on 7.00 to 9.60 firmware, you will want to use the G2All option instead.
    • If it is the first time the page is loaded, it will be cached, and will have to be manually reloaded once prompted.
  3. Wait for the exploit to trigger. If you see the "GoldHEN loaded" message, you have jailbroken the PS4.
    • If you see "Not enough memory", select OK.
  4. Exit the User Guide by holding the back button.
  5. For recommendations on what to do next, see Recommended Setup.

WebKitty (6.70-13.52)

Exclamation-circle-fill.svgPSFree+Lapse AIO fixes that resolve the black screen and save data issues, have been applied as part of the exploit from 7.00-9.60. If you have a GoldHEN plugin for the AIO issue, remove it from your plugin.ini.

Using these instructions don't require the above DNS, though it's still recommended since it blocks updates.

  1. Open the PS4 browser.
  2. Access Webkitty with either webkitty.arabpixel.net, or webkitty.free.nf. It would be a good idea to bookmark the page as well.
  3. Allow caching to reach 100%, After completion you'll be redirected automatically.
  4. Pick GoldHEN or HEN, then press the Start button on the page and wait for the notification of GoldHEN or HEN being loaded. You won't need internet the next time you want to jailbreak your console.
    • If you get not enough memory press OK then press Start again.
    • If the page is stuck, press back and press Start again.
    • If the console freezes or goes to a black screen, hold down the power button until it shuts down #then boot and retry. See below for more.
  5. For recommendations on what to do next, see Recommended Setup.

rawgame4.github.io (11.5x-13.52)

Using these instructions don't require the above DNS, though it's still recommended since it blocks updates.

  1. Open the PS4 browser.
  2. Go to http://rawgame4.github.io (or http://raw13g.github.io/ if on 13.02 to 13.52). It would be a good idea to bookmark the page as well.
  3. The jailbreak will start loading when you click the Cross button or tap the page with the cursor. Wait for the jailbreak to finish.
    • If you get not enough memory, load the page again.
    • If the page is stuck, load the page again.
    • If the console freezes or goes to a black screen, hold down the power button until it shuts down #then boot and retry. See below for more.
  4. For recommendations on what to do next, see Recommended Setup.

Troubleshooting

  • An error "Not enough memory" appears.
    • It's a common error. Keep pressing OK until you pass it.
  • The PS4 just shutdown/rebooted itself.
    • Another common error. Do not worry, reboot and try again.
  • I rebooted the PS4, and now I can't launch my games/apps.
    • Jailbreaking is not persistent/permanent, and as a result you need to re-jailbreak your PS4 every time you reboot/shut down your PS4. As an alternative, you can put your PS4 on rest mode, and you don't need to re-jailbreak.
  • Will my PS4 die from doing this?
    • No, even forced reboots won't kill your PS4.
