The MIG Flash (previously known as the MIG Switch) is the first Switch flashcard that lets you run clean game dumps on all unmodified Switch consoles using microSD cards without needing to purchase an exploitable model or install a modchip. It fits into the game card slot and is accepted in the same way that an original game card would.
Because the MIG Flash replicates the same validation responses as an original game card, game dumps must include both signed ROM data and ROM certificates in order to boot on an unmodified system. This means that unsigned code (such as homebrew) and NSP or XCI files (without their certificate files) will not work. To facilitate this, the MIG Flash team released the MIG Flash Dumper separately, which allows users to create personal backups of their original game cards for use with the MIG Flash along with its appropriate files over USB; alternatively, those who have a modified system with custom firmware can use the MIG Dumper application, which, at the cost of owning a modified system to perform dumps and play games using the MIG Flash, defeats the purpose of its use case.
Both the MIG Flash cartridge and dumper were originally sold at launch at a price point of $80.
