Overlays are a new type of Homebrew that opens an applet similar to the Switch's Quick Settings. We use the nx-ovlloader sysmodule to load a menu, from there we can choose from a list of utility overlay to display.

The two common overlay loaders are:

  • Tesla: First overlay; basic Functionality
  • Ultrahand: Newer & more customizable option

Installing an Overlay

  1. Download the latest release of nx-ovlloader or nx-ovlloader+ from GitHub
  2. Download the latest release of Tesla OR Ultrahand from GitHub
  3. Extract both .zip folders to the root of your SD Card
  4. Reboot Atmosphere
  5. You can now access Tesla's overlay menu by pressing L+Dpad Down+X, which is its default button shortcut.
    • ZL+ZR+Dpad Down is the default button shortcut set by Ultrahand overlay.

Overlays can be found in .ovl format and have to be placed in Switch/Overlays
