Cyberpunk 2077 Is Getting a Full Campaign Co-Op Mod Called NightCoop
A new mod in development for Cyberpunk 2077, titled NightCoop, is set to bring full story campaign co-op to the game, allowing you to experience Night City's main narrative alongside your friends. The first gameplay footage has officially dropped, showcasing how the multiplayer synchronization works in action.
In NightCoop, the host player's save file dictates the state of the city, NPCs, and quest progression. However, visiting players aren't just clones—everyone joins the session as their own customized V, retaining their personal character appearance, level, gear, and cyberware.
To keep the narrative flowing smoothly for multiple players, NightCoop introduces several cooperative systems:
Dialogue Voting: Players vote on dialogue options together, with the majority choice determining the outcome for the group. Even timed decisions are tackled as a team.
Synchronized Cutscenes & World State: Story scenes and dialogue skips trigger simultaneously so players remain in sync. One player’s client handles enemy and NPC logic, seamlessly sharing that state with the rest of the party.
Shared Activities: Players can ride in vehicles together and participate in VR training side-by-side.
Toggleable PvP Mode: For those looking to test their builds against friends, a single switch activates PvP, complete with full damage, Sandevistan support, and a downed-and-revive mechanic.
NightCoop vs. CyberMP NightCoop isn't the only multiplayer project on the horizon. Another mod, CyberMP, is also in the works. While CyberMP focuses on custom servers and a sandbox multiplayer experience in Night City, NightCoop is specifically designed to let you play through the core story campaign together.
There is currently no release window for NightCoop, but further updates are expected as development progresses.
