PC gamers looking to experience classic single-player titles with friends are in luck. Brand-new campaign co-op mods have been released for both Resident Evil 2 Remake and BioShock, completely changing how you navigate these survival horror and immersive sim worlds.

Resident Evil 2 Remake: Splitscreen & Custom Partner Styles

The new co-op mod for Resident Evil 2 Remake is a local splitscreen experience that offers deep customization for team play.

  • Play Modes: Choose from five different setups, including shared screens, splitscreen, fixed camera angles, classic HUNK-style controls, or letting the AI control your partner.

  • Character Roster: Play as one of 15 unique characters—including Leon, Claire, Ada, HUNK, Tofu, and Sherry—complete with distinct outfits, voices, and move sets.

  • Partner Roles & Gear: Customize partner inventory and choose from three play styles: HUNK of Boy (infinite ammo and healing capabilities), HUNK’y Friend (standard gear with vulnerability), or HUNK of War (limited to a handgun and knife).

  • Team Mechanics: Players can trade items, revive a crawling partner when down, and use a quick menu for seamless coordination. Experimental settings also allow for friendly fire and shared inventories.

BioShock Together: Online & Local Campaign Co-Op

The new co-op mod for BioShock supports both local and online multiplayer, allowing you and a friend to explore Rapture together from start to finish.

  • Shared World: Both players inhabit the same game space, allowing you to open doors, trigger switches, tackle enemies, and take down Big Daddies as a duo.

  • Individual Choices: While enemy kills and progression are shared, players retain independence when handling Little Sisters—meaning you can choose to rescue or harvest them individually for your own ADAM and ending path.

  • Current Limitations: Because the mod is in an early stage, you may encounter bugs, erratic enemy syncing, cutscene glitches, or moments where partners appear as Splicers. Additionally, the final boss encounter must still be completed solo.

Both mods are currently in their early phases, meaning players should expect a few bugs and glitches. However, they provide an incredible excuse to dive back into Resident Evil 2 Remake and BioShock with a friend.
