Nintendo enthusiasts can now experience one of the console's most beloved titles natively on hardware, as the first public beta for an unofficial Super Mario Galaxy PC port has officially launched.
Developed by keepvaibin, who began work on the project in June, this release brings the classic Nintendo Wii platformer to desktop setups. This build is distinct from the separate decompilation effort led by Luma’s Workshop, which remains in development. While the creator utilized AI assistance via Claude for this recompilation, the project delivers a fully playable experience for users eager to run the game natively.
Key Features and Graphics Options
The port includes a robust suite of visual enhancements and configuration settings:
Aspect Ratios: Supports displays ranging from standard 4:3 up to ultra-wide 32:9 resolutions.
Resolution Scaling: Internal resolution support scaling up to 16x.
Visual Filters: Includes anti-aliasing options (SMAA, FXAA), anisotropic filtering, AMD FidelityFX FSR 1 upscaling, and optional per-pixel lighting.
In-Game Settings: Access settings menus instantly by pressing
F1on a keyboard,View + Menuon an Xbox controller, orMinus + Pluson Nintendo Switch controllers.
Comprehensive Control Support
Day-one support for keyboard and mouse configurations is fully integrated alongside controller compatibility. Players can map inputs freely to use a standard keyboard and mouse setup, Xbox controllers, or Nintendo Switch Pro and Switch 2 Pro gamepads.
Performance Requirements
The port is designed to run efficiently across a variety of hardware configurations. According to the developer, maintaining a locked 60 FPS at 1440p requires modest hardware, successfully tested on systems utilizing an Intel Core Ultra 9 185H processor with integrated graphics and 16GB of RAM.
