Unofficial P.T. PC Port Update 1.0.4 Brings DirectX 12, Full Path Tracing, and DLSS 5 Support
Konami’s legendary 2014 horror teaser P.T. has received a massive visual and technical overhaul on PC. The newly released Update 1.0.4 for the native C++ PC port introduces DirectX 12 support alongside Vulkan, bringing cutting-edge rendering features including full Path Tracing, Ray Reconstruction, Real HDR, and multi-vendor Frame Generation.
We already have the project available in our database—players can download the latest version or update their existing installation directly from the Silent Hills P.T. Unofficial PC Port mod page.
Full Path Tracing and Visual Upgrades
The centerpiece of Update 1.0.4 is a dedicated Path Tracing Mode that eliminates baked lighting and artificial fill lights entirely. Every light source on screen is now fully path-traced with multiple bounces of indirect illumination. Key visual enhancements include:
Dynamic Light Sources: Direct lighting from every lamp and the player's flashlight is fully path-traced.
Accurate Reflections & Surfaces: Glass surfaces, the bathroom mirror, and the sheen on the hallway floor dynamically react to traced light paths.
Real HDR Support: New calibration controls allow players to fine-tune white levels and peak brightness for compatible displays.
Frame Generation, DLSS 5, and Performance
To offset the heavy hardware demands of path tracing, the update expands upscaling and frame generation capabilities across DirectX 12:
Frame Generation: Native DX12 support now includes NVIDIA DLSS Frame Generation, AMD FSR 3 Frame Generation, and Intel XeSS Frame Generation.
Community DLSS 5 & Legacy RTX Support: While not a native implementation, the port makes it easier to integrate community-made DLSS 5 tools and unlocks DLSS Frame Generation for older NVIDIA RTX 20-series and 30-series graphics cards.
Engine Optimization: The client boots faster, loads enhanced textures more quickly, reduces gameplay stuttering, and improves low-VRAM management alongside numerous visual bug fixes.
Quality-of-Life, Accessibility, and Platform Features
Beyond graphics and frame rates, version 1.0.4 revamps the user experience with broader hardware and system integration:
Accessibility & Controls: Adds sound captions, motion control support, a wider field-of-view (FOV) toggle, improved controller compatibility, and the ability to skip the ending cutscene by holding the pause button.
Redesigned UI: The PC settings menu now features organized tabs and clearer button prompts.
System & Audio: Introduces Windows spatial sound, improved VR support, and Discord Rich Presence integration.
Updater Improvements: Adds in-game updates with faster download speeds, stricter file integrity checks, better support for long directory names, and fixes for Linux update issues.
