This guide will walk you through exiting IDU Mode.
What is IDU Mode?
By accessing debug settings you may unfortunately out of curiosity enabled IDU Mode. IDU Mode is a demo/kiosk mode used to display game demos in stores and etc. Once in IDU Mode you are locked out of certain features that make the PS4 almost unusable for your usual activities. Reinstalling PS4 console system software using Safe Mode will NOT remove you from IDU mode.
Which jailbreaks allow you to exit IDU Mode after entering it?
- Any WebKit based jailbreak will allow you to exit IDU Mode if it is enabled - firmwares 4.xx-13.52.
- BD-J will allow you to exit IDU Mode if it is enabled - firmwares 9.00-13.00.
- PPPwn will allow you to exit IDU Mode if it is enabled - firmwares 7.00-11.00.
- Jailbreaks that use the Lua loader and PlayStation Vue will NOT allow you to exit IDU Mode even if they are enabled.
On any firmware after 13.52 you cannot disable IDU Mode via software only. You will need to wait for another jailbreak or desolder the Nor chip to disable the IDU flag.
Entering Staff Mode.
- Press and Hold the buttons on your controller in the following order L1 + L2 + R1 + R2 + DPAD UP + OPTIONS. Hold them down for 15+ seconds until Staff Mode unlocks.
- From here you can visit the Jailbreak Guide to jailbreak the console.
- Enter debug settings and disable IDU Mode. Settings>Debug Settings>System>IDU mode>Off.
