- The only ways to expand the console's storage is either with a microSD card, or unofficially, upgrading the eMMC storage.
- Maximum supported SD card capacity is 2 TB.
- The exFAT driver is supposedly buggy, so it's best to format your SD card as FAT32 with Hekate, before using it with the Switch. If Hekate is inaccessible (like if you don't have access to an unpatched or modchipped system), then you can format the card on a PC. Most SD cards that are larger than 32GB will be pre-formatted with exFAT from the factory.
- "Auto-archiving" of unused software is on by default. "Archiving" meaning deletion of the software while still keeping the icon on the home menu. It doesn't seem to be officially documented, but supposedly the/a condition for deletion is that you haven't used the software in question for a while. Apparently you can't turn it off system-wide, but you can manually disable it for each piece of software in Data Management. There may also be special behaviour relating to this for Fortnite.
- With homebrew, you can use USB storage, for instance, as a storage location for NSPs (to install to the system NAND/SD), ROMs for emulators or destination for dumped carts/digital titles.
- Homebrew also lets you transfer data to the SD card from a computer over USB.
